The Pay it Forward Music Project
The Cabana is excited to announce the Pay if Forward Music Project!
How many people are now streaming music? Thousands? Millions? How many people get music for free? Personally, I totally love having all this great music at my fingertips! But, while these services have greatly increased the exposure many artists get, they have made it extremely hard for some them to earn enough financial support to make that next great record. Instead, the industry now relies on TV game shows and Youtube subscribers making cell phone videos to find the next quick money maker. Don't get me wrong, these can be amazing channels for good music, but there's little or no artist development.
You and I, as longtime music supporters, are totally aware that some of the most iconic music ever recorded was created in studios where the artist was given the time needed to develop. This seems to be completely opposite of how the music industry works today.
In fact, most of the way music is consumed these days, pays just pennies to musical artist. And unfortnately, who ultimately suffers are new and great upcoming musicians.
So, how canyou help support finding that next great artist, today? Easy, Donate to The Pay it Forward Music Project. You'll have a hand in developing the next Led Zepplin, Dillan, David Bowie, Jenny Lewis, or Foo Fighters. Even $5 or $10 helps....still less than most people pay for one month of streaming service.... and you get to support great music again.
Once per year the Cabana Studio picks one local or independent musician/band to give 100% of its services free:
Eligibility: Local or Unsigned Musician/Bands from San Diego and Surrounding Communities. Must be 16 years or older. Musicians under 18 must have the approval of a parent or legal guardian. Parents must accompany any participant under the age of 18.
Services Included: The community-recording project includes (up to eight songs) production coaching, mixing, hired musician costs, orchestral arrangement, mastering, graphic design, assistance setting up distribution channels, and a chance to promote your recording release party at a local venue.
The selected participating band/musician will have one full year to complete their project. Scheduling may be dependent on other studio client scheduling.
Musicians/Bands are invited to fill out a submission form. Artists will be chosen from a panel of industry professionals.
Submissions: should include the information form, a brief bio, and website link if available. Participants are encouraged to submit links to music via soundcloud, reverbnation, youtube, etc…) keep in mind that recorded submissions do not have to be high quality. The Cabana is looking for talented, hardworking, musicians that are open to creative instruction and are able to express their passion for music in the written portion of the submission.
We are currently seeking funding for this project and will release details soon regarding submission deadline and detailed instructions regarding this exciting new program! Help us reach our $10,000 goal by donating today! All donations go to costs associated with recording and producing the selected artist project.
